The Ancient Land of Mohenjo-Daro in the Indus Valley

Number of pages: 5

ABSTRACT:
This 5 page report discusses Mohenjo-Daro of the Indus Valley, a “founder city,” meaning that, like Alexandria of Egypt, Mohenjo-Daro bears all the signs of a city that was willed into existence by some powerful person or group of people. Mohenjo-Daro flourished along with 100 other settlements along the Indus, however, it and the city of Harappa were the most populated. The people of the Indus Valley constructed some of the first planned cities in the world, created one of the first written languages, and prospered for nearly seven centuries. The region had large and complex hill fortifications, housing palaces, granaries, and baths connected to elaborate sewer systems. Bibliography lists 6 sources.
